About the Artist

Born in Portsmouth, Virginia, DeHaven is an enrolled member of the Laguna and Zuni Pueblos.  She attended the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, NM and received an Associate of Fine Arts degree in 1990.  In 1995, she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of New Mexico - College of Fine Arts.

Chaffins' work can be found in numerous collections, most notably the National Collection of Contemporary Indian Art in the Museum of Contemporary Native Arts in Santa Fe, NM.  Her work has appeared in various solo and group exhibitions since 1995, in NM, California, Arizona, Washington, and South Dakota.

In 2009, Chaffins made her debut at the 51st annual Heard Museum Indian Market in Phoenix, AZ.  Then in 2010, she was accepted into the Native Treasures Show, which was held in Santa Fe, NM.  Currently she is the signature artist for the New Mexico Center for Nursing Excellence Awards.
